HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy is a safe, enjoyable and effective method of overcoming many different concerns, helping you to achieve a happier, healthier and more balanced life!
I offer hypnotherapy in Edinburgh at my private studio room on Causewayside for help with stress & anxiety, weight management, and smoking cessation, as well as for confidence, low self-esteem, limiting beliefs, negative thought processes, exam stress, and many more common problems.
A typical session with me begins with some breathing and calming techniques to relax the body and the analytical side of the brain. During this relaxed state (also known as ‘trance’), we can then tap into the side of the brain where memories of the past, habits, emotions and behaviours are stored. This allows for any limiting beliefs, past trauma, negative emotions, habits or behaviours to be replaced with new patterns and thought processes for lasting and positive change, helping to return you to your true self, create the future that you want or to achieve the goals you desire.
As an intuitive hypnotherapist, I use a variety of techniques including NLP, EFT and EMDR to enable my clients to achieve greater transformation.
A light hypnotic state, or ‘trance’ can be likened to a day dream, or when immersed in a book. During hypnosis you will likely feel a deep sense of relaxation and peace within, and often a feeling of lightness in your body. You are fully in control at all times and will hear my voice throughout the session. Should you need to, you can simply stop a session by opening your eyes. Hypnosis is completely safe, and anyone can be hypnotised if they want to. It is currently used within the NHS, and can help treat many different conditions or problems for example;
- Stress and anxiety
- Self-confidence and low self-esteem
- Driving tests and exams
- Phobias such as a fear of flying, spiders or snakes
- Excessive alcohol consumption or smoking
- Suppressed emotions, such as anger, guilt or jealousy
- Weight loss or better eating habits
- Bulimia or anorexia nervosa
- Compulsions, such as nail biting or pulling hair
- Sleep issues such as insomnia, snoring or irregular sleep patterns
- Skin disorders such as psoriasis or eczema
- Allergies and Asthma

“I enjoyed my hypnotherapy sessions with Sara and each time have learnt something about myself that I can take into my everyday life.
I have never had hypnotherapy before so was feeling a bit apprehensive about what it would involve but Sara immediately put me at ease. After an initial discussion about what I would like to gain from the sessions, Sara tailored them towards me and explained everything well so I would know what to expect.
In her comfy chair, with a cushion to cuddle I was able to relax and follow Sara’s instructions – she has a such a calming voice – and felt safe to explore thoughts or emotions that came up and was given time & support to process them. Sara completely understood what I needed and made sure the sessions reflected this, following up in the second session by introducing techniques that she knew would benefit me. I left our most recent session feeling the most relaxed I have felt in years and I’m grateful to Sara for her careful guidance and good instincts..”
